Arbuckle Creek
Arbuckle Creek flows for 23 miles from Lake Arbuckle to Lake Istokpoga, stretching through cypress strands, open grass prairies, ranch land, and an occasional oak hammock. Originally the creek was known to the Native Americans as Weokufka, or “muddy water,” although later it was apparently named Arbuckle after a family of local settlers. A gorgeous little creek bordered on one side by the Avon Bombing Range, which actually keeps the area fairly wild and natural.
